Records of the Kansas Corporation Commission, 1933 - [ongoing].

This collection contains the records of the Kansas State Corporation Commission (KCC). The records document the KCC's effort to regulate and monitor public utility companies operating in Kansas, in regards to utility rates and oil and gas well drilling. The majority of the records are legal case files regarding public utility companies appealing to the KCC for the allowance of rate increases. Related to these files are several appearance dockets, stating the number of the case, parties involved, and a schedule of all legal actions and proceedings taken during the case. Included are maps of the telephone lines by county and of natural gas pipeline systems throughout the state. Other records in the Conservation Bank Files series document efforts by various Kansas businesses, schools, and private residencies to install energy efficient equipment into their buildings. The collection also contains many administration records series such as agency annual reports, budget files, general subject files, and correspondence files as well. The majority of the series document the planning and construction of the Wolf Creek Generating Station. These series include legal documents, case files, exhibits, requests for information, and related correspondence relating to rate increase cases of the Kansas City Power and Light Company, Kansas Gas and Electric Company, and the Kansas Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. in the relation to the Wolf Creek construction.
